You should create every new SOAP Book in a new or empty folder on your computer's hard drive. This will allow you to backup your SOAP book and all related files by backing up that folder and all subfolders.
If you are the only person who is going to access your SOAP Notes, then you should not create your SOAP book in a shared folder.
If you intend to have multiple therapists share a common database of clients or patients from multiple computers, you need to create your SOAP book in a new or empty folder in a location that all therapists can access. The easiest way to do this is to have a computer that is stored in a secure location in your office and is dedicated to this task. We'll call this computer your server. You create a shared folder on your server and store your SOAP book in that shared folder. To keep this information confidential, you might want to restrict access to this folder to authorized personnel only. Authorized users should have read, write, create, and delete privileges to the folder.
Depending on where you are located, different laws apply regarding patient records confidentiality. The laws that apply to you might affect your decision of where you are going to store your Soap Books.

For you to be able to share your patient database with other therapists, all therapists need to be able to access the exact same SOAP Book at the same time.
File sharing services such as DropBox, Google Drive or OneDrive, will most likely want to keep a separate copy of your SOAP Book on each therapist's computer. If two therapists access the SOAP book at the same time, they will end up with two different SOAP books that you will not be able to merge. These services might therefore not be suitable for sharing SOAP books online.
